The Document Camera tool (N) is a new feature of Notebook 10.  You can place a 3-D object under the SMART SDC-280 document camera, and all your students can see it larger than life.  Click on the Document Camera tool to bring up the live digitizing window.  Here you can point out features and rotate the object.

On the fly, you can collect student themes, choose one at random and put it down on the document base to digitize it. This helps students see the variety of different writing techniques, and allows for immediate class critiques.

You can also quickly capture maps, drawings, textbooks and newspaper images.  You can digitize and/or present large scale objects, like maps and plans, capturing them into Notebook software and annotate over them, if desired.  What a great way to make a "big book" out of EVERY book.  Remember to keep copyright issues in mind.

An art teacher we know uses her document camera to teach art and art history.  She buys "postcard art” at museum gift shops, because she cannot afford to buy full size prints and does not have room to store them.  Using a document camera lets her display images in a large format, and lecture on artistic style and technique.  Students can also make presentations on their own artwork.

SMART Technologies’ Document Camera (SDC-280) is the ONLY document camera that integrates directly with Notebook 10 software for Macintosh and Windows OS.  The SDC-280 is 100% plug-and-play, so you can take it right out of the box, plug it in, and start using it without installing software other than Notebook 10 software on your computer.  Because it takes only three seconds to digitize, you don't waste valuable instructional time.
