Books > Vol. 2 - Mastering Macintosh Notebook 10 > Chapter 4 info > Insert link

Normally, you create objects in Notebook software first, and then link them individually via the Object Menu.  However, if you are creating a table of contents, index or list page for your Notebook file, it is easier to use the Insert Link command.

In the above example, we created a Notebook file to supplement an art lecture, and are making a Notebook page listing paintings to display during the lecture.  To do this, use images already scanned as JPEGs using the SMART Document Camera.  Those images are saved to a hard drive.

Next, link to File on this Computer, and click on the Choose File button to browse to the file location.  Insert each JPEG painting file into Notebook as a Copy of File (click the radio button), and Launch by clicking on the Object (click the radio button).  When you click on Insert Link, a link is pasted into the upper left corner of the Noteboook page, with a paperclip showing that it is an attachment.  By choosing Copy of File, attach the file into this Notebook file.

Simply touch the file name to move it and click on the paperclip to launch it.

In the example above, you have linking to Page in this File, and have selected the page “Category Sort” and Launch by clicking on the Corner Icon (click on radio button).  You touched and dragged the text into place and used the text tool to select and change the text to Helvetica, Blue, 36 point.  You see the “Page” corner icon at the lower left corner of Category Sort.  Touch the icon to go to that page.

Above we linked to a web page, typing in a URL.
