Gallery

The Gallery contains a wealth of graphic images.  The Gallery is a searchable database of graphics and other objects that you can use with all SMART Notebook files.  Essentials for Educators contains over 600 MB that is 5,400 pieces - clip art, including pictures, backgrounds, multimedia, Flash animation, graphics with attached sounds, SMART Notebook files and more.

You can customize the Gallery via the “My Content” folder.  Move frequently used Gallery content as well as imported media files to your “My Content” folder.  You can also export “My Content” folders to share with others.  Schools can set up shared “Team Content” folders on servers for teacher and student use.

When you click on a particular Gallery folder, you view the content in the lower “Search Results” window.

Gallery tab windows can be resized.  In the above example, we dragged the upper right search window to make it very short and the entire Gallery window very wide.  This lets us see as many Gallery items as possible.  Here we are looking at interactive and multimedia Gallery items (primarily Flash animations) in the Administration and Evaluation folder of the Essentials for Educators Gallery.

Each subject area in the Essentials for Educators Gallery folder has subcategories.  To get to a subcategory, click on the “open arrow” in front of the appropriate folder.  It works very much like navigating with Macintosh OS.

These are the different types of objects in SMART Notebook Gallery:

A – Object.  Could be text, SMART notebook object (e.g. shape)  or a graphic image (JPG or BMP)

B – Graphic image with audio file attached (Click on the speaker to play the sound.)

C – Flash animation (usually interactive).  Gallery Flash animations have a red “F” circle in the upper left corner of the thumbnail.

D – Computer movie

E – Background (You can draw over it.  When you erase, the background remains.

F – Notebook page (You can draw over it.  When you erase, the page remains)

G – Notebook file (multi-page lesson)

H – Folder containing Gallery objects
