Epson install - wall mounted short throw projector

My brother-in-law and his buddies installed some SMART Boards and Epson projectors at his children's school.  They decided to use the Epson 410W wide angle short throw projector, for ease of installation and to reduce projector shadowing on the SMART Board.

They started by installing a ProAV mount, to extend the SMART Board in front of the chalk board tray.  The black horizontal bracket that comes with the SMART Board is attached to the ProAV mount.  It can be adjusted up and down, on holes spaced an inch apart, to select the desired height.

After taking the Epson 410W short throw mounting bracket to mark drilling spots, Scott uses a hammer drill to drill four holes through the cork tackboard, into concrete block.  He then inserts hollow wall anchors (get what you need at a hardware store) into the drill holes.

Scott fastens the Epson projector wall bracket into place.  When finished, he pulls hard on the bracket, to insure that it is securely mounted to the wall.

Lay the Epson projector on cardboard to avoid scratching the case.  Position the projector bracket into place, to its holes line up with the mounting threads on the bottom of the projector.  Use screws that come with the mounting hardware to screw the projector bracket into place.  Note that the lens (upper right corner) is not in the middle of the projector.

Scott's helper temporarily installs the SMART Board on the hanging bracket.  The center of the SMART Board should be at the center of the projector lens.  This is about three inches offset from the center of the wall mount bracket (see manual with wall mount bracket for exact measurements). Note the pen tray brackets on the bottom of the SMART Board.  With a pencil, mark the pen tray bracket hole locations on the wall.

Hammer drill the two anchor holes to affix the pen tray bracket.  If you are drilling into a non-metalized chalkboard instead of a wall, you must drill very slowly with a regular drill, or you can crack the chalkboard surface.

Insert hollow wall anchors and fasten down the pen tray bracket to secure the bottom of the SMART Board to the wall.

Snap in the pen tray and attach the controller wire to the pen tray.
