Lesson Activity Toolkit

Research indicates that during the first two years of interactive whiteboard use, teachers work harder, as they build content to use with their interactive whiteboards.  But there are many easy ways to integrate existing classroom activities with the interactive whiteboard.

One of the best tools available is SMART’s Lesson Activity Toolkit (LAT) introduced as beta software in Fall 2007, with the full LAT available as a free download in April 2007.  What is nice about the LAT is that it is so easy to use, and you do not have to be an expert on Notebook software to utilize it.  The LAT is great for reinforcing curricular content.

The LAT consists of “do-it-yourself” educational Flash interactive lesson “Activities”: category sort, keyword match, multiple choice, note reveal, sentence arrange, tiles, timeline reveal, and vortex sort.

The Lesson Activity Toolkit has other goodies.  “Games” include anagrams, crossword, hot spots, Sudoku, word biz and word guess.  “Tools” include balloon pop, checker tool, dice–image, dice–keyword, question flipper, question flipper – image, random image tool, random number generator, random text tool, scrolling text banner, vote tool and word generator.  Lots of good stuff!
